Von intelligenter Energie und energetischer Intelligenz

Exciting fields of application at the interface of energy and AI
Science Café in German

Climate change, which is linked to an increasing demand for renewable energy solutions, are major challenges for the entire energy sector. The Energy Strategy 2050 aims to not only reduce energy consumption and promote renewable energy sources, but also to improve energy efficiency. For the design of future intelligent energy systems – which are being increasingly digitized – artificial intelligence (AI) offers interesting possibilities.

When we consider interfaces between energy and AI, smart grids or smart homes are at the forefront. But there are many additional exciting areas of application, such as intelligent electricity trading or questions of sector coupling.

During the Science Café, Christian Schaffner from the Energy Science Center at ETH Zurich and Alexander Ilic from the ETH AI Center, together with guests, discuss the symbiotic relationship and challenges and opportunities of smart energy.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Christian Schaffner, Executive Director, Energy Science Center, ETH Zürich
  • Dr. Alexander Ilic, Executive Director, ETH AI Center, ETH Zürich
  • Katja Abrahams-Lehner, Communication and PR, D-ITET, Moderation
